BEWARE! These 7 Business Sectors Are Proposed to Be Closed to Foreign Investors in Bali: To Avoid Another Loss! 🛑🚫
The Bali Provincial Government is starting a “clean-out”! Annoyed by frequent opportunities for fraud, 7 sectors in the Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI) are proposed to be REMOVED from the list of foreign investment (PMA). 🥊🏝️
The government no longer wants the Island of the Gods to be used as a “grey” permitting ground for unscrupulous investors. The Head of the Bali DPMPTSP, I Ketut Sukra Negara, emphasized that these sectors are vulnerable to abuse because they are categorized as low-risk, so oversight is often overlooked.
Here are the facts behind the 7 sectors targeted for closure:
Management Consultants (OFFICIALLY CLOSED): This sector was the first to be “locked” by the central government. It often serves as a cover for other unlicensed business operations. ❌
Low & Medium-Low Risk Sectors (6 Other KBLI): Although not yet detailed individually to maintain a conducive climate, the remaining six sectors are still in the process of being submitted to the Ministry of Investment.
Loopholes for Abuse: Foreign investors enter through low-risk entry points to easily obtain permits, but in practice, their initial commitments often deviate. 📉🤨
Ongoing Company Audits: Foreign investors already operating in this sector will not be immediately kicked out, but will be placed on a “strict monitoring” list.
“We have summoned several of these foreign investment companies. Their permits must be in accordance, don’t mess around in Bali!” Sukra Negara asserted.
Why this bold move?
Although Bali still needs fresh funds (2025 investment realization reached IDR 42.81 trillion), the government is beginning to realize that Investment Quality > Investment Quantity. Moreover, the growth of local entrepreneurs (PMDN) is currently soaring at 39.8%! 📈🇮🇩
It’s time for local entrepreneurs to become kings in their own land. We must not let sectors that Balinese people can manage be “eaten” by foreigners through underhanded means. ✊🔥
